Apple Denies Production Halt of 27-Inch iMac Models
3 02 2010An Apple spokesman recently refuted a recent claim that Apple had halted production of their 27″ iMac models. Reports of display flickering and yellowish tinting of the display resulted in the supposed production halt. The spokesman stated the 27″ iMac has been such a success that they are increasing supply to keep up with the strong demand.
A second firmware update was released yesterday to address the flickering issues and other issues that have been present since its release in late 2009.

Apple iPad is Released….. Hear Apple User Comments!
28 01 2010So the iPad was released yesterday and there is a firestorm of chatter in various social networking sites and blogs. Here are a couple replies to our posts on LinkedIn. Tell us your thoughts!
-Love the design. Part of my fascination is the marketing brilliance that Apple executes and the degree of secrecy they have mastered. How many of the leaks and misdirections were driven by Apple genius to build the buzz? How is it possible that Apple is able to release such a dramatically new and different product that draws from many different vendors (H/W mfgs, game devs) without having a total leak outbreak? The logistics of one of these announcements is awe inspiring to me. Perhaps I’m especially nerdy, but I really like watching these releases. I’m already blocking out an hour and a half this evening (perhaps during the President’s speech) to watch Apple’s video of the event.
-My first and initial thoughts were “Great Size, like the web browsing.” Now my thoughts are “Storage capacity sucks, no built in SD card for memory expansion.”
-It is the iPod size I would like to see for the iPod, but Apple needs to get over the hump of 64GB of manned flash memory.
-I’ll be keeping my iPod Classic 160GB for video thank you. I’ll be keeping my MacBook for Internet and book reading thank you.
-Not low enough in price or resounding in features to make me go buy one.
-This iPad will certainely convince users who didn’t switch yet to Apple’s iPhone nor iTouch. By giving them all the same features for the internet navigation, iPad will also gather customers hesitating to buy the (limited-options) Kindle or Bamboo Touch tablets. What is sure is that Apple made again a great move with this new product, but I know they’ll still surprise us when they will add new features to the iPad…and the iPhone/iTouch! Wait and see!
-This is the perfect device for my father. Easy to use, big screen and nothing for me to support.
-I see the iPad as the perfect coffee table computer. It will be handy for checking e-mail and browsing the web from the couch. Hopefully, with the advent of the iBook Store and the publications offered there, it will replace the pile of magazines and newspapers that accumulate in my house.
-I really like to the look of it and think its an excellent product! Nice one Apple
-I would be interested primarly in the Wi-Fi model, but I also think the Wi-Fi and 3G unit is excellent. I do have the slight concern that if you have a MacBook or a MacBook Pro it does reduce it’s usefulness a little and it does seem to cross-over a little too much.
-With the above said, I would still the benefit of the device in a pure entertainment device; watching films, music, electronic newspaper (well ok, a browser). It does seem that is a little more accessible than a laptop for that quick ‘entertainiment’ fix.
-I will have a more deeper look at the device over the next few days and then see what I really make of it. Still is an very nice job!

Is Apple Trying to Cut iTunes Episode Pricing in Half?
26 01 2010A recent Financial Times report claims that Apple has been talking with TV networks to lower their prices for iTunes. Weak sales of television content sparked interest in Apple to reduce pricing in hopes to turn things around. This could also be in preparation of the upcoming tablet.
Many networks have not warmed up to the idea most likely for fear of a repeat of the music industry’s agreement with Apple to sell individual songs for 99 cents in the iTunes store. The price point boosted downloads of MP3s but adversely affected album sales.
There have also been rumors of Apple developing a monthly subscription for a best of television package. This package offers consumers a plethora of content at a fixed price point.

Apple and McGraw-Hill Working on e-Textbook for Tablet?
22 01 2010A recent BusinessWeek report sates Apple and McGraw-Hill have been discussing e-textbook content which would be used in conjunction with the Apple tablet. These talks have reportedly been taking place over the past year which verifies the claims that McGraw-Hill has been developing their content to function within iTunes. McGraw-Hill is not the only publisher in contact with Apple about tablet opportunities. Hachette, HarperCollins, and Wiley have also been discussing possibilities with Apple.

Apple Tablet Coming Next Week?
21 01 2010Recent articles from the Wall Street Journal have uncovered some new information about the rumored Apple tablet that will supposedly be unveiled next week. Current chatter suggests the tablet will sport a 10 or 11 inch touch screen and will start at $1,000.
Sources say Apple has a vision of a Mac that can be shared by multiple people in a family or classroom to read news, learn, check email, surf the web, etc. If the tablet is successful in the classroom, Apple has considered developing electronic textbooks. They would have to partner with magazine, newspaper, and book publishers for this content, but could be hugely successful combining everything into one device.

Nokia Broadens Scope of Patent Violations By Apple
29 12 2009Legal battles among Nokia and Apple have been taken to the next level after Nokia announced they filed a complaint with the ITC (International Trade Commission) stating almost all Apple products infringe on Nokia-held patents. This includes the iPhone, iPod, and Macs.
The seven patents that are in question are associated with Nokia’s user interface, camera, antenna, and power management. These are critical to Nokia’s success because they lower manufacturing costs, reduce size, allow better user experience, and longer battery life.
